The Traffic Operations Division operates and maintains 71 traffic signals. About one-third are owned by the City, and the other two-thirds are on state highways and are owned by the Texas Department of Transportation but maintained by the City.

Some additional signals located entirely on airport property within the City limits are owned and operated by DFW Airport.

Video Detection Cameras
Many City-maintained traffic signals utilize video detection cameras to automatically sense the presence of waiting vehicles. Many of these cameras can be remotely viewed by City staff to monitor signal operations and traffic conditions. These detection cameras are used only for operating the traffic signal, they are not used for traffic enforcement, and the video is not recorded.
