At the time of testing: Minimum age of 19 with a high-school diploma or equivalent.
Applicant must be certified as a Basic Firefighter by Texas Commission on Fire Protection AND certified as a Paramedic by the Texas Department of State Health Services. An individual who has an International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) certification is eligible to apply for employment but must request reciprocity for a TCFP certification and hold a TCFP certification as a Basic Structural Firefighter (minimum) at time of hire. An individual who has a National Registry certification for Paramedic is eligible to apply for employment but must apply for Texas certification and be Paramedic certified by the Texas Department of State Health Services at time of hire.
The Texas Department of State Health Services certification shall be maintained during employment.
Applicant must be able to acquire a valid TX driver's license with a good driving record and must obtain a Class B license within 90 days of employment. Applicant must have no more than $1,000 in past due or collections and will be verified by credit check. Applicant must pass written tests, physical agility test, and polygraph examination.
